Accept the forgiveness of God. Admitting our prideful rivalry against others and against Him allows God’s forgiveness to transform our lives. God desires to restore us to right relationship with Himself, and with others, and with all of His creation. God does all this because God is love! (1 John 4:8; Matthew 26:28; Acts 2:38; 2 Corinthians 5:20)
Begin living by faith in Jesus, alone. God faithfully shows grace in Jesus Christ. By faith we show grace to others. Faithful to Jesus, in His life—death—resurrection, we discover that we can love others for their sake alone, not requiring or even desiring anything from them in return. This is the selflessness with which Christ was faithful to the Father and showed us God’s love. (Romans 1:16-17; 5:1-2, 8; Ephesians 2:8)
Continue walking by grace. God’s grace enables our faithfulness. Humbling ourselves before God the pride-based rivalry we experienced before gives way to grace-filled living in every relationship: creation, others, God! We want to serve others and be good stewards of the creation. We want worship God with praise and thanksgiving. We (you) are entering a New, Eternal Life, worth living forever. (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 3:16)
